A wonderful volunteer decided to take Jake home for a week and give him a break from his kennel at the shelter. While the people and volunteers are nice to him and try to give him extra time outside, he just had to get out of there for a while. Jake was not handling the confinement well at all. He is practically the perfect house dog. Jake just wants a home of his own. He would need to either be an only dog or have an experienced handler who was willing to give them a slow introduction period and a more mellow dog. ⭐️Here are some observations from the volunteer who he hung out with this week...⭐️

Jake Observations:

Can be left out of crate without destroying anything;

Housebroken;

Extremely happy when I come home. He literally jumps against the wall;

His tail never stops wagging;

Loves being in the backyard, searching for squirrels in all of my trees as well as the regular deer who travel past my my backyard multiple times a day;

Rarely barks;

Sometimes I have to bring him back inside with a lead because he's so affixed on the trees and possible squirrels but he doesn't resist - he comes in quite willingly most of the time;

He follows me everywhere;

When I go upstairs he follows me and goes to his upstairs bed on the landing;

His eating is sporadic and seems most eager to eat when I'm in the kitchen;

He does like deli turkey:) ;

He is not food aggressive;

Loves tennis balls and brings them back when thrown;

I'll think of some more as the day goes on☺️

He is 3 yrs. old, 61 lb,  has the volunteers swooning and lining up to take him out for a walk. We all love this charming guy. Besides he gives the best doggy kisses! Jake is neutered and up to date on his rabies vaccine. He will need a meet and greet with your current dog before adopting. He is not in FOBCAS care, we are promoting for the Bedford County Animal Shelter and we cannot guarantee the health of any of the animals available for adoption.
