This sweet girl is a 2 year old fully vetted and spayed Bassett Hound. She is about 40 lbs, and could stand to gain a couple more. I think the stress of being taken to the shelter, a stay at RS for surgery, and switching to a foster home took a toll on her weight, because she is very eager to eat! She was turned over to Bedford County Animal Shelter by her previous owners because they didn't have the time for her. I will not roll my eyes at that because I can understand why Gwenny Longpants is time consuming. This next home of hers will be her FOREVER home, so please be aware if you apply for her to be ready for a needy baby who wants lots of attention, and needs light training for house manners. Miss Longbottom LOVES humans of every age, shape, gender, and vocal range. However, she would be best suited for a home with no tiny babies due to her lack of manners. She will step on top of any dog, cat, or human, if it means better access to a toy. In her foster home she has free access to an almost 2 year old toddler, and they do great together, but they are also under constant supervision and correction (for both canine and human). We have had several visitors while she has been with us and she greets everyone like a long lost cousin. She would be GREAT for a home with a stay at home parent, a retired couple with energy, or a young family working opposite shifts. Not to say these are the only situations she would fit into, but she sure does love being the center of attention. We are working on housetraining, but she will most likely need to be taken out often at a new home, and a fenced in yard would be a huge plus. She is a door diver, and tries as hard as possible to leave when the humans do, but after only a few days of correction she has done great with a 'Wait' command.

This dog is currently in foster with Friends of Bedford County Animal Shelter.
The adoption fee is $200
